Antique 19th Century Dutch Empire Round Mahogany Table on a Hexagonal Base

About the Item

A very rare Dutch Empire round table in exquisite flamed mahogany. The tabletop is made from two sheets of mahogany in a symmetrical open book manner. The table has a solid mahogany top of 0,8 inches. Below is a mahogany veneered apron of 2.16 inches. The top sits on a curved tapered mahogany veneered column that ends in small bun feet. The column is six sides and has a smooth tapered curve into a hexagonal platform base. The table has a comfortable height of 39 inches and its diameter of 43.7 inches allows four people to sit generously at the table. The table has a warm brown color and a polished and waxed finish. The mahogany used here is from the genus Swietenia and the species Macrophylla. This species does not fall under CITES regulations and can be transported across borders freely. The piece is in a very good authentic condition and is ready to be used.
