Antique 8ft Regency Metamorphic 3 Pillar Dining Table, 19th Century

About the Item

This is a fabulous high quality antique flame mahogany Regency Period metamorphic triple pillar dining table that can seat 10 people in comfort, dating from Circa 1820. It is raised on three bases, each with four sabre legs that terminate in brass cap castors. The table can easily be converted from a ten seater dining table into a six seater dining table, and a drop flap pembroke table by removing the clips. Or it can be converted into a pembroke table and a pair of console tables. The pembroke table is fitted with a useful drawer. There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome dining table which is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection, and a talking point with guests at meal times. THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THIS ITEM IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
