Antique French Hunt Wake Dining Table Drop Leaf Gate Leg Console Sofa Table c1920. Direct from France, and one of our customer’s most sought-after table designs, a large, drop leaf, gate leg “wake” or “hunt” table. The design of these tables makes them so versatile, as they are VERY SLENDER, but VERY LONG in length, with oversized leaves that can be opened to create an extremely large table when needed. THIS TABLE IS A MASSIVE LENGTH WITH HUGE LEAVES AND transforms into approx. 7 ft. x 5 ft. tabletop size! Certainly, this table is well suited for a dining table, but there are so many other possibilities, such as a kitchen island/work area and as a sofa table behind a large sofa, with occasional use of the outer leaf for entertaining! Extremely versatile, and always a conversation starter, as most don’t know why they were known as a “wake” table or “hunt” table!!! Quality throughout, very heavy, and solid with turned legs and solid birch construction; well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1920. Measurements: 31.25” ht. x 82.5” (ALMOST 7 ft. length) x 30” (SUPER SLENDER WITH LEAVES DOWN. LARGE FULL SIZE with both leaves up, 82.5” x 59.5” (that’s 7 ft. x 5 ft.!).
