Magnificent and rare Rustic Brutalist extendable dining room table. Design by Anton Fortuin. Striking Dutch design from the 1940s. Solid oak with hand-carved elements. This wonderful Rustic Brutalist dining room table by Anton Fortuin was designed and manufactured for his own house and is in very good original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.Measurements in extended version: 160 cm or 62.99 in. A real eye-catcher in your home or office. We will ship this lovely piece of furniture in a custom made wooden crate for safe transport when purchased by overseas buyers! Anton Fortuin
Anton Fortuin was a son of florist Willem Fortuin and Maria Ruijs. He was an apprentice in a stonemason (1892) and was trained in the evenings with Carl Geverding at the Drawing School for Crafts in Amsterdam (1893–98). He continued his education at the Academy of Visual Arts in Ghent (1898–1900). In 1901, he established himself as an independent furniture maker and sculptor in Amsterdam. Fortuin made, among other things, reliefs, small sculptures in stone and wood and utensils. He designed and decorated interiors for several mail ships.
