As usual, we are here to help!! WOAH!! This is one GORGEOUS mid-century modern extension dining table. Created in the 1960s by Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Company, it has great solid bones comprised of a rectangular frame with straight legs and a lovely decorative center support bearing a fabulous Asian Parsons styling. And, let’s just say, its finish had seen better days, so we took the opportunity to restore this awesome table by giving it an incredible sultry black painted finish…. Plus, we have given it a sturdy polyurethane finish to withstand use. It has two fully aproned leaves which fit right in the center as you pull the table apart making it very convenient and versatile. Use one leaf or two depending upon the amount of space you need. It is perfect for a growing family, someone who loves to entertain, or someone that likes to have a few options! Pair it with funky modern chairs; sleek mid-century modern ones; industrial, rustic, traditional, or fancy gilded Hollywood Regency ones. As a matter of fact, we have several sets of dining chairs listed here for sale that would complement this table nicely… check them out!! Grand Rapids Bookcase Company was founded in 1872. In 1903 Barber Brothers Chair Company was founded and in 1911 the two companies merged to form Grand Rapids Bookcase Company which was located in Hastings MI. They manufactured Mission & Colonial style bookcases, desks, China cabinets, tables, buffets, and other case pieces mostly using oak & mahogany woods. In 1945 it became a subsidiary under Sligh-Lowrey and then in 1957 was sold to Baker Furniture however, in 1973 Baker Furniture stopped using the Grand Rapids Chair name.
