About the Item
This long dining table was manufactured in the 1960s, but its authorship is still in research. The piece is made of solid Rosewood and Rosewood veneers, and its structure is composed of four parts: two parts for the base and two parts for the top. It consists of a practical fitting structure made of carbon steel and located in the central leg.
The design is so well constructed and fitted that makes the base very light, considering its dimensions. The top is composed of two parts, with charming frame detail.
This dining table is a very well-built piece, with a beautiful design and quality materials: another hidden treasure among the icons of Brazilian design. The table is ideal for 14 - 18 seats and is still unrestored.

Rosewood Dining Table with Glass Top, Joaquim Tenreiro, 1947, Midcentury Brazil
By Joaquim Tenreiro
Located in New York, NY
This exquisitely crafted dining table, designed by Joaquim Tenreiro (1906-1992) in 1947, evokes a refined coexistence of traditional values and modern aesthetics. Its delicate shapes give the impression that the pieces float in the space.
Tenreiro came to see the often heavy, overstuffed pieces that dominated the market as being incompatible with a tropical country like Brazil. He promoted furniture that was formally light, as described in his own words: “Lightness, which has nothing to do with the weight per se, but with grace and functionality in space.”
