About the Item

A dining table at the crossroads of vintage design and exceptional furniture: this octagonal table embodies a bold, luxurious yet understated style, reminiscent of Carlo Scarpa's designs. Carlo Scarpa, born June 2, 1906 in Venice and died November 28, 1978 in Sendai, was an Italian architect and designer. The thick smoked glass top, shaped with a polished bevel, subtly plays with the light. The chrome-plated metal frame, with its clean, geometric, and bold lines, creates a visual dialogue between solidity and elegance, typical of Scarpa creations such as the Sarpi or the Doge. The understated yet architectural legs enhance the top while maintaining excellent stability. Dimensions: • Diameter: 130 cm — generous diameter, ideal for spacious living rooms • Height: 75 cm This table embodies the demands of a style inspired by the great names of mid-century/1970s design, where glass and metal were used for their formal purity, visual contrasts, and ability to interact with light. Each element—from the top to the legs—exhibits aesthetic and functional mastery: The materials are noble: thick tempered glass and chrome-plated metal. The construction is solid, with a stable base, careful finishing, and precise assembly. The legs can be positioned in different ways to create a new table according to your desires. 20th Century Carlo Scarpa Table Mod. Doge Steel and Crystal, '60
By Carlo Scarpa, Simon Gavina Editions
Located in Turin, Turin
Carlo Scarpa was an Italian architect and designer, among the most important of the 20th century. Linked to art, in particular with the art of glassmaking, of which Venice is the Italian capital, is also his first prestigious position in the world of design, the artistic direction of Venini, a role he held between 1933 and 1947 and through which he brought the centuries-old tradition of Murano glass into modernity. His meeting with Gavina would lead him to create his most famous furnishings. Here we have a big dinner table made by Carlo Scarpa for Simon Gavina. Carlo Scarpa was inspired by the architectural structure, with the thick flat profiles supporting the crystal top. The drawn steel structure is enhanced by the transparency of the top. This item is perfect not only in the dining room but also as a meeting table...
