About the Item
Carlo Scarpa postmodern black madagascar dining table, 1970's. Carlo Scarpa was a famous Italian furniture designer and architect, influenced by the materials, landscape and history of Venetian culture and Japan. He designed this table for Giorgio and Silvia Cattelan founders of Cattelan Italia furnishings company in Carre, Italy. They have crafted award-winning Italian furnishings with some of Italy's most renowned designers including Gastone Rinaldi, and Yoshino and Emilio Nanni. They have multiple statement pieces which include geometric tables topped with glass. This dinning table has two black madagascar marble pedestals that consists of four layers of stacked/stepped marble with a U-shaped cutout creating a sculptured support for the 3/8 inch thick beveled glass top. Each base measures 16.5"W x 4"D and has white veining throughout the black madagascar marble.
