Carved Oak Renaissance Trestle Dining Table
About the Item
Created with excellent craftsmanship and solid construction in Europe during the late-19th century, this oak dining table is adorned with an array of extraordinary carvings. Four fierce, winged lions, which are carved with great detail on the corbels, are the table's most striking feature. Just behind the lions are fluted columns, which appear to support an ornamental arch with a suspended spire pendant on each side of the table. The table's frieze is carved with opposing birds separated and flanked by scrolled foliage. A wide, flat stretcher unites the trestle legs. Five fluted, turned posts carved with acanthus leaves connected by graceful arches at the top span the center to the table, joining the stretcher and the table top for additional support.
