Chinese Chinoiserie Dining Table Rosewood & Mother of Pearl Round to Oval
About the Item
Wonderful vintage Chinese Chinoiserie dining table comprised of Rosewood & Mother of Pearl (m-o-p) round top with 2 leaves, converting it to a small oval with one leaf and large oval with 2 leaves. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This Asian style table is in excellent vintage condition with the exception of a small missing piece of m-o-p on the top which we have repaired by filling with wood filler and painting with a pearlized paint. You can still see the spot when looking for it but doesn’t show overall. There was also a nick on the inside edge of one of the leaves that has been filled. The whole top and leaves have been scuffed and given a coat of poly for durability. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-Late 20th Century.
Mother of Pearl comes predominantly from the shell of the pearl oyster, freshwater pearl mussel, and abalone… making this table a true GEM!! This is a GORGEOUS Chinese rosewood dining table with mother-of-pearl inlay, and it is simply stunning. It can be used in its smaller round form as an entry hall center table, as a breakfast nook in the kitchen, or a game table in the family room. Or… add a leaf or two and it turns into a larger oval to be used as a fabulous dining table or possibly a smaller conference table in the office. The aprons around the table and both leaves feature beautiful hand carved Asian designs, and the top of each leaf bares a carved rectangle surrounding Asian details created with mother of pearl. The top of both sides of the round table bear hand carved half circles encompassing the mother of pearl designs… It is fantastic!! The table stands on four incredible straight square legs with lovely meander carved feet. This Asian style dining table is bursting with Chinoiserie magnificence and can be used with so many styles of décor whether chinoiserie, contemporary, traditional, eclectic, or industrial. It is perfect for a growing family, someone who loves to entertain, or someone that likes to have options and versatility! Plus, the chair combinations are limitless.
