Contemporary Marble Douglas 260 cm long Dining Table by Armand & Francine

About the Item

The Douglas collection introduces a more brutalistic and robust collection with straight edges. Drawing inspiration from fracture lines and with a nod to their favorite Belgian architect Juliaan Lampens. Starting from a base of plywood, layers of Mortex© are added to create the table. Mortex© is a decorative technique based on lime, acrylic and pigment. This technique is added manually which gives an imperfectly perfect result and gives each table a unique appearance with color nuances, imperfections and small irregularities. These form the character of the product and the technique. The appearance of the furniture is partly determined by the degree of polishing and the final finishing layer. Each piece of furniture or object is completely unique and handmade in our own workshop. Matt finish by means of a water-based PU lacquer. The colors are manually composed of natural pigments. Only for indoor use. Material: Ply wood, Mortex© (decorative technique based on lime and pigment) Armand & Francine (A&F) is a creative duo comprised of Gert Hellebaut and Cathy Poppe, based in Ghent, Belgium. Driven by a desire for creative freedom, they embarked on a journey as self-taught designers which led them to establish their studio where they handcraft solid, unique furniture and objects for interiors. A&F combine traditional craftsmanship with organic and flowing lines, reflecting their love for textures, materials, asymmetry, and imperfect beauty. Cathy's creative instincts and Gert's technical skills complement each other, resulting in their distinctive and refined designs. A&F believes that furniture should not only be visually appealing but also serve as functional and emotional objects that can be cherished for generations. The design process of A&F involves experimentation and refinement, always researching new techniques, structures and materials. Armand & Francine believe in a local approach and prioritize quality and craftmanship, personally handling every aspect of the production process in favor of maintaining control over the final product.

Contemporary Organic Natural Plaster "Latus" Table 260cm by Isabelle Beaumont
Located in Ranst, BE
Contemporary Belgian design, handmade natural plaster table with a textured and earthy character. Indoor use (price outdoor +10%) Latin adjective “undulatus” / un . du la. tus / : wavy The Latus dining table is handcrafted with multiple layers Mortex® on a wooden base. Mortex is a premium natural plaster that has proven its quality in construction purposes for years. It is used for bathrooms, floors, stairs, swimming pools, etc. In terms of composition, it is similar to products like Betoncire or Venetian plaster, but Mortex does not contain epoxy or polyurethane resins and it is waterproof by nature. The plaster is applied using the “a fresco” method, which means the previous layer has not yet fully hardened before the next one is applied. This technique allows all layers to bond together and obtain the highest quality result. The result of this handcrafted process is a textured piece of art with a human touch. *The irregularities, imperfections and color shades that arise after the application of the plaster leaves the signature of the craftsman. This makes each piece unique. The altruistic & humble character of our pieces ensures that they can be used in many different styles, such as contemporary, wabi sabi, japandi, minimalism, brutalism, industrialism, etc. Design and production studio "Atelier BB...
