Early 19th Century French Extendable Dining Table, Demi Lune, Walnut

About the Item

Extendable antique dining table for 8 people France walnut early 19th century Dimensions: H x W x D: 79 x 116 x 70 cm extendable to: H x W x L: 77 x 116 x 260 cm Description: Antique folding console table made of solid walnut. The semicircular shape helps the type to get its name "Demi Lune". When closed, we see a console, which can be perfectly positioned on the back as a side furniture on the wall. Immediately eye-catching are the double top plate and the three rows of legs at the back. The rear of the three pairs of legs serve as support surfaces for the top plate, which, when unfolded, turns the console into a dining table for 4-6 people. By means of a so-called link system, the table can be extended to approximately 260 cm. For this purpose, two boards of 60 cm width each are inserted. Now the table can be used very comfortably for 8 people, but a little narrower you sit well even to ten. Of course, the table can also be used with only one board and a length of 200 cm. Condition: Refurbished condition while preserving the patina. The pull-out mechanism works perfectly. The table is stable and suitable for everyday use. The surface is oiled and can be wiped with a damp cloth. The two inlay plates have been added. The legs have been extended by about 3 cm each at the bottom to achieve a "modern" dining table height.
