About the Item

Explorer dining table by Jaime Hayon. Available in various sizes and finishes. Importanly the table is finished with a laminated fenix top, which is highly scratch and heat resistent. Ideal for dining tables. The collaboration between Jaime Hayon and BD Barcelona Design started 15 years ago. Since, we have developed a ton of designs and variations together divided into three large collections: Showtime, Gardenias and Explorer. The Explorer collection is the most recent. Before the forced lockdown due to the pandemic, which is still affecting us today, we presented a ‘starter’ to this new collection – a series of three side tables called Explorer 1, 2 and 3. So far, these have had comercial success. This may be because they remind one of jelly-beans, rounded sweets that children eat in the United States. “This childlike inspiration, has at the same time a very elegant beauty which generally is characterised in my designs. It’s about new shapes, different objects within the market that want to convert into emblematic pieces because these tables are not only functional but sculpturally strong”, explains Hayon. Now comes the second part. The tables have grown up, maintaining the same signs of identity these being personality, pleasantness, elegance and quality in workmanship. “The glossy finishes and different colour combinations give even more options to the collection, aiming to be blatantly decorative. They are pieces that communicate”, the designer concludes. Interior painted steel structure. Central leg and base in breglass with a gloss (strengthened gel for durability) nish. MDF veneered table top in Polaris with a matte nish by Abet Laminati. The underside and the borders of the top are lacquered in a matte nish. Multicolour options for three models. Optional: table top available in Polaris Black.
