Extendable Lacquered Goatskin Dining Table, c 1970, Restored w French Polish

About the Item

Simply exquisite is this lacquered goatskin dining table featuring a scalloped base with chrome details and a monumental size: 60" in diameter with no leaves and 96" x 60" with both leaves. Most extension dining tables are around 42" to 48" in depth so the extra size lends towards much greater versatility and luxurious use options for this gorgeous circa 1970s restored table. We refinished the table with a French Polish giving it a thick glass-like finish which via the thicker harder surface protects the table from regular daily use and gives the vibrant goatskin grain a lustrous and more exotic appearance. French Polish is the most expensive and labor intensive finish that is often reserved for the finest items, usually for exotic woods and often seen on important Rosewood and Macassar Ebony Art Deco cabinets. The deep watery-sheen is created through many hand applied coats and hand polished to a thick glass-like finish. The results are just exquisite, and this important piece is now ready for immediate placement in any high-end luxury designer project. Attributed to Italian maker Aldo Tura, this table is in similar style to several modernism designs by Karl Springer and Ron Seff. This modernist extendable lacquered goatskin with scalloped chrome accents dining table would work great in a French Neoclassical, Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room and is also an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. This table would work excellent as a dining table, executive or management desk, work table, conference table, meeting table, Zoom call table, or as a center table. MEASUREMENTS: With no leaves: H 29.75" x W 60" x D 60" With one leaf: H 29.75" x W 78" x D 60" With two leaves: H 29.75" x W 96" x D 60" CONDITION: Refinished with a French Polish lacquer and ready for immediate use.

Monumental Custom Granite and Steel Dining Table by Anthony Lumsden, 1970s
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A jaw dropping monumental granite slab and steel dining table by famed Los Angeles architect Anthony Lumsden - custom designed and crafted for his Los Angeles home in the 1970s. Sleek, modern yet a subtle statement piece, partially due to its large size for such heavy materials, but also for its vibrant deep granite veining which reflects light in a shimmering fashion. *Note, we have this very discounted prior to our upcoming move. Once we ship this table to our new location we will be removing the sale price so take advantage of the incredible deal while it lasts! The thick and large granite slab is heavy with no-doubt, the large chromed steel frame is also very heavy in its own regard - a sign of the quality materials he used. To re-create this staggering piece today would be costly and painfully difficult. Acquiring this dining table, which would also make an incredible conference table as well, is a great opportunity for a collector or architecture aficionado to own something truly unique and special - and something that will stand the test of time. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Anthony Lumsden was a famed American architect most noted for his sculptural futuristic designs with numerous projects in Southern California such as the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant, often seen in Hollywood films and television shows such as Star Trek Next Generation...
