About the Item

George III Mahogany Twin Pedestal Extending Dining Table A charming George III style twin pedestal extending dining table, crafted from high-quality Georgian mahogany and dating from the late 18th century. The solid top is constructed from three beautifully figured pieces, with gently rounded corners to the ends. The pedestals supports the end leaves of the table on a ring turned stem with tripod of reeded legs, finished with brass toes and castors. The central leaf can be removed to shorten the table or to split it into a pair of side tables, offering versatile use. From six seater dining table to pair of consoles. This elegant table is completely original and exudes character, showcasing a warm, aged patina and fine craftsmanship. Its proportions and detailing make it a striking centerpiece for both formal and more casual interiors, combining practicality with period charm. Dimensions (approximate): Height: 71 cm (28 in) Length (with central leaf): 164.5 cm (64 ¾ in) Width: 116.25 cm (45 ¾ in) Central leaf width: 45.25 cm (17 7/8 in) Length (without central leaf): 119.25 cm (46 in) Condition: This table is in very good condition for its age, structurally sound and sturdy, with no loose joints. No obvious signs of damage or repairs. It displays a beautiful, aged patina and original surface, with numerous marks and blemishes on the top that are consistent with its history and are now well wax polished in. The original wax-polished surface remains in excellent order, with a lovely, even colour. The table has been sensitively cleaned, and waxed, and is ready for immediate use. As with all vintage and antique furniture, signs of age, use, and wear are present, adding to its character.
