About the Item

A rare and exceptional early example of Danish modern design, this sculptural dining table by Henning Kjaernulf for Sorø Stolefabrik showcases the extraordinary quality and attention to detail that defined the golden age of Scandinavian craftsmanship. Crafted in the 1950s, this piece features an unusually thick, quarter-sawn Brazilian rosewood top—an early production hallmark, seldom seen in later models where thinner veneer became the standard. The rich, swirling grain is deeply expressive and alive with movement. Each leg is carved from solid old-growth Brazilian rosewood, adding both visual weight and a sense of permanence. The table includes four original leaves, extending to seat up to 12 comfortably. An ingeniously engineered fold-out leg structure discreetly supports the center when fully extended—an elegant solution that ensures both stability and harmony in form. Recently restored by our in-house team with great care and respect for the original materials, this table is presented in immaculate condition. The finish has been refreshed to bring out the depth and luster of the rosewood without compromising the integrity of its age and patina. A museum-worthy piece for collectors, designers, and architects seeking a truly rare and architecturally refined dining solution. Free local delivery available.
