About the Item

George Widdicomb emigrated from England to America in 1845 and started a cabinet workshop in Syracuse, New York. Widdicomb later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, the furniture capital of the Midwest. John Widdicomb, left the family business in 1897 to create the John Widdicomb Co. By the early 2000’s after more than 100-years the company finally closed and Stickley purchased the assets. The Dining Table we are offering has 2-leaves and I must say that it is extremely clever in design and functionality and designed in a manner that we had never seen before. Beautifully constructed and built to last for generations. The previous owner we believe had the table for about 50-years and there appears to have had no prior repairs. We also have the matching set of (10) Country English Ladderback Rush Seat Dining Chairs and an Oak Hutch that accompanied the Dining Table and were purchased at the same time. These will of course be listed on 1stdibs. **Width provided does not include the leaves. The table extends to 110" with leaves.

Antique English Dining Table or Farmhouse Table Made from Rare Scottish Oak
Located in Chicago, IL
Antique English Farmhouse Dining Table made from extremely rare Scottish Oak and at first glance, you would have thought the antique English Dining Table was produced from mahogany, until you take a harder second look. We have been importing from the UK for over 30-years and this is the only Antique Dining Table or Farm Table we have ever seen created from solid Scottish Oak and it is truly breathtaking. Our Old Plank finishing department washed-off the old rather tired finish and applied a very light colour stain that would highlight the incredible grain pattern of the Scottish Oak. The Scottish Oak that was used for the Antique Dining Table base is as interesting and beautiful as the Scottish oak used for the dining tables top. After lightly colouring the Oak, our Old Plank finishers applied by hand an old school English Polish, that is both beautiful and at the same time very durable. Our Old Plank artisans in the wood working department are estimating that the Antique Scottish Oak Dining Table...
