The 'hal' table followed in 2000 and singularly ignited the faceted craze. William was selected to represent Surface magazine at the Salon del Mobile 2004 in Milan. When asked to compare European designers to American by Metropolis magazine in 2006, Cooper - Hewitt National Design Museum curator Ellen Lupton observed that, as American design was more pragmatic and the Europeans more conceptual, William Earle broke the mold by being a minimalist. Today the artist's work is seen everywhere, from the camp of Penn, Yale and Harvard, as displays on the floors of Bergdorf Goodman, Macy's and Bloomingdales, in ads for Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren and the lobby of Trump Tower.
