About the Item

A superb rustic French farmhouse refectory table, dating from the very early 19th century. The impressive triple-plank pear wood top, with cleated breadboard ends, measures over 8½ feet in length and comfortably seats ten. The sturdy base is crafted from solid elm, with plain frieze rails and block legs united by a central H-stretcher, giving both strength and authenticity. This is a wonderfully substantial table, full of character, with the rich colour and aged details that only come from two centuries of use. Perfect for a large kitchen, dining room, or country house setting, it combines real presence with everyday practicality. ***More Pictures Available on Request*** Dimensions: Height: 75.25 cm (29.625") Length: 261 cm (102.75") Width: 76.25 cm (30") Condition: Presented in good rustic condition, commensurate with age. Structurally very sound and sturdy, with no loose joints. The top and base both show attractive age-related details, including areas of old decay and natural wear, all fully treated, stabilised, and waxed in. Some historic extinct worm holes (typical of pear wood and elm), again treated and stable, adding to the table’s genuine patina. Recently serviced in our workshop, carefully cleaned, and wax polished, making it strong, robust, and ready for everyday use. A highly desirable French farmhouse table – substantial, full of charm, and perfectly suited to both rustic and contemporary interiors.
