Mahjong Dining Table by Pendhapa

About the Item

Mahjong dining table by Pendhapa Dimensions: D100 x W100 x H74 cm Materials: Solid black javanese teak, black lacquered javanese teak, Kuningan metal (traditionnal indonesian brass). Weight: 100 kg Can be made in Oak / other options of tabletop velvet colours. The Mahjong table is a playful piece of furniture. It is a table conceived with weight at its center. It has been designed both as a dining table or as a functional game table. Its function oscillate from one to the other by removing its high gloss lacquer tabletop to reveal a velvet lined interior, adequate to play mahjong, cards or any other table game. The tabletop thickness hides individual drawers finished with solid cast Kuningan brass handles which reveal an all brass cladded interior. The colour of the high gloss lacquer can be customised as well as its dimensions. We are Atelier Pendhapa, an architecture, furniture and research design practice that seeks innovative form rooted in timelessness. Based between Singapore, Jakarta, London and Paris, Atelier Pendhapa is engaged in projects across Europe and South-East Asia since 2019. Founded by Antonin Hautefort and Ignatio Tenggara, Pendhapa seeks a holistic approach to the practice of architecture with the ambition to dissolve the boundaries between site, product and architecture. Antonin and Ignatio founded Pendhapa Atelier together in 2019. While Antonin grew up in France, Ignatio comes from Indonesia. It is partly their radically different cultural background, partly their fascination for local craftsmanship that motivated them to build an enterprise together. Both architects by training, they met at the Architectural Association in London while completing their master of Architecture. Prior to starting Pendhapa Atelier, Antonin and Ignatio were both part of international architectural design practices on projects in the USA, the UK, France, South Africa, and Singapore.

Contemporary Dining Table, Black Polished Resin, by Erik Olovsson
By Erik Olovsson

Spine is a series of tables consisting of two components, a thin aluminum sheet captured in a cast resin surface. The series is a result of many material explorations concerned with bent forms and enhanced flexibility. The spine of each table is formed from a 10mm plate of aluminum. The aluminum is scored on both sides, allowing for the dramatic curve to be formed. The aluminum is anodized and set in place before the resin surface is cast around the skeletal form. As the resin bonds it constrains the aluminum, suspending the spines´ curve and creating the tables structure. Traces of the organic curve remain visible through the polished resin...
