About the Item

Esavian Mid Century Desk Esavian (ESA) by James Leonard adult teacher school desk, circa 1950, Mid-century British design with a Formica top and beech Bentwood legs with a lovely Scandinavian influence, Alvar Aalto Style This is the more rare adult sized desk. This desk is perfect to be used as compact dining table specially for kitchen or work from home desk. That's fab quality & well made, a solid & sturdy little table that's stylish too. It comprises a Formica top resting on beechwood frame & bentwood legs. We absolutely adore this Esavian table with Bentwood legs and red light grey/white formica top which will easily fit in any styled home. Small and sweet with adorable look Its rectangle top in mottled white/grey melamine is carried by a copass base in gilded beech ESA was a business set up to supply schools with a range of equipment from desks and furniture through to books and equipment. ESA manufactured their range and had a factory in Stevenage which specialised in wood furniture production. Designer James Leonard joined ESA in 1946 after being demobbed from the RAF - James Leonard worked at ESA until his retirement in 1982 and ESA closed its doors in 1987 when manufacturing became cheaper overseas. Dimensions (cm): 61 D ( 63.5 including legs) x 72 H x 9W cm Condition:The wooden parts have benn restored but still might present wear. Wear consistent with age and use, characterful patina achieved over time. Formica top in good vibntage condition. Light scratches and small dents around the edge (please see pics)
