Mid-Century Modern Dining Table in Caviuna Hardwood by Carlo Hauner 1950s Brazil

About the Item

Available today, this magnificent dining table is made in solid Caviuna hardwood and has an extendable board. There are almost no screws or nails but only wood fitting. This is a 6-seat table expandable for eight seats, with a practical and well-designed mechanism for this. This Brazilian Modern beauty has more than 60 years and has aged beautifully. The Caviuna hardwood on the sides is a bit lighter than the one in the center as the sides have been exposed to the elements, losing pigment over the years. The table has been refinished and besides the marks of age, the piece is in excellent condition. Traces of distributor seal are under the table. This beautiful table is featured in our gallery with a 10 chair set in Caviuna & Black leather from Giuseppe Scapinelli and looks spectacular! Equally as practical as beautiful, these table will look awesome with modern or mid-modern chairs but will also look terrific in a Contemporary, Minimalistic environment. The table fits six when is closed and eight to ten when is extended. Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) with Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the primary designers for the iconic Brazilian furniture company Forma. They are most known for well-shaped armchairs made in iron, but the production is far more complex, handcrafted, and extensive. The wood pieces produced by Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte during 1950 & 1960s in Brazil is highly designed and well-executed. Their narrative spans four countries (Italy, Austria, Brazil, and Argentina) and several decades and their exceptional works are already highly sought-after examples of the vibrant modern design movement in Latin America. Size: • H77, W135 (closed) & 215 (open), D95 (cm) • H30.3, W53 (closed) & 84.6 (open), D37.4 (inches).
