This travertine dining table from 1970s Europe captures the essence of postmodern design through its thoughtful blend of geometry and material. The tabletop combines the soft lines of an ellipse with the structure of a rectangle, resulting in an organic, irregular oval shape. Its polished surface highlights the natural veining and tonal depth of the travertine. The base is constructed from two curved travertine slabs, joined by crossbeams that add depth and architectural interest. Each slab features rectangular cutouts, breaking up the solid stone and allowing light to filter through. This play between weight and openness gives the table a sculptural quality that feels both grounded and unexpectedly light.
