Robert Mouseman Thompson made throughout the 20th century some truly exquisite pieces of solid furniture. Their works are now highly collectable especially the very early pieces This table is circa 30-40 years old so a good solid vintage piece, it is head to toe solid light fume oak, the twin column base has two carved mouse’s on one on each side, the table top is joined with traditional wood peg nails as is the base We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it has normal age related patina marks from honest use Dimensions Height:- 73cm Width:- 212cm Depth:- 150.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses SW19-3BE, we can have it delivered nationwide to include Scotland Wales and Ireland. Very Rare Charles I 1630 Oak Refectory Dining Hall Table, Plaish Hall Shropshire

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning Charles I 1630 solid oak hall or refectory table from Plaish hall Church Stretton Shropshire A very good looking and well made refectory or hall table, it has a triple plank top with cleated ends, moulded frieze above turned and square section legs joined by peripheral stretchers The table came from the Collection of Plaish Hall, Church Stretton, Shropshire which was the Property of Mrs Roy Merley and Family. Plaish Hall is a stunning Grade I listed Tudor house, standing in beautiful gardens and grounds and surrounded by the unspoilt countryside of South Shropshire. It is believed to be the first brick built house in Shropshire in the 1580s, (although parts of an earlier stone house were incorporated), at a time when the great majority of buildings in the parish of Cardington were timber framed. Of special note are the chimneys of Plaish Hall which are thought to have been based on those at Hampton Court, they are considered to be the finest in the West Midlands. From the early 1980s and over a period of 35 years Plaish Hall was initially meticulously restored and then maintained, its glorious Tudor style gardens were also reinstated. Judge Sir William Leighton Plaish Hall was re-built for Judge Sir William Leighton who on his death in 1607 left land to endow church repairs at St James’s, Cardington, as well as the sum of £50 for the making of his tomb in the chancel. We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare set of six burr oak 1930s Robert Mouseman Thompson dining chairs in fully restored condition These chairs have been fully restored, all the original woven seats had dried and perished over the last 90-100 years of use, there weren’t safe to use, as such I have had all the woven leather replaced on every chair, it took 3-4 hides of thick veg tan plain leather which was hand dyed back to the original chestnut brown colour, I have a complete suite of pictures of the entire process. The frames have been glued and clamped where required, treated for insects as a matter of process not need, then deep cleaned waxed and polished The timber on these chairs is a bit of a lottery jackpot, they have the original scalloped backs which is basically the honeycombed look and feel, but these panels are all burr oak. To put this in context a small milking stool by Mouseman may sell for £200-£300 in normal oak, in burr oak it sells for £1600-£2000.
