About the Item
"San Miniato" walnut & two-tone marble dining table by Montaperto Studios, 2021. An explorative and experimental form, this one-off dining table borrows motifs from Romanesque/Medieval ecclesiastical architecture, 20th century modernism, as well as the historic arts & crafts movement.
Rusticated and robust in execution and materials yet formally refined, this piece has been handmade & finished by father & son team of third generation artisans, Angelo & Justinian Montaperto--out of their Brooklyn atelier & gallery--Montaperto Studios.
The piece features several decorative elements, including chevron inlays caping the legs, as well as block sabots in cedar & inlays to the legs themselves which offer simple but charming contrast to this honest design.
The stone top is an expertly mitered two-tone bordered lamination comprised of dark and light marble and features notched corners to reveal the legs. This piece is a one off but a similarly styled table could be commissioned upon request.
