Shaker Dining Table, c. 1850
About the Item
This elegant Japanese kimono stand dates to the early 20th century and is an updated example of traditional garment racks used to display silk obi sashes, kimono, and haori jackets. Crafted of thin strips of oak, the stand features an overhung top and latticed sides fitted with metal hooks that pivot to lie flat when the stand is folded. At the bottom of each side is a panel of contrasting dark hardwood with a decorative cutout and a faux-bamboo trim. Ideal today as a coat rack or room divider, we love this garment stand for its quiet simplicity and natural materials.
