A beautifully grained marble top Saarinen Tulip table by Knoll. It is 42 inches in diameter. Slightly under 29 inches tall. The bottom of the table is stamped Knoll International. We’ve sold quite a few of these over the years and as is common with some of these, the wood table support underneath the marble has been replaced. The marble simply rests atop the support, as the marble is heavy enough to be secure. The base appears to have been re-powder coated at some point in the past. The base is in good condition with a few marks, which are pictured. The top is in good condition with no breaks or chips, although there is a scratch, pictured as well. A wonderful Italian Gilt Aluminum and Marble dining table suitable in a Kitchen or small dining room. Very much reminiscent of the Italian masters like Gio Ponti or Ico Parisi. Flowing delicate legs and a simple but elegant apron. The round marble is fitted into a square base. Clever design. The piece is mid century and it's likely from anywhere from the late 1940's to early 1960's. The base is marked Italy on top of one of the legs under the marble, pictured. There is quite a bit of paint loss to the gilt finish. We've left it alone instead of having it repainted as it shows the table's age and character. The marble top is beautifully veined and has nice patina as well. There are numerous chips to the bottom of the edge and a few minor ones to the top edge. We've pictured a few of them. It is structurally sound. It's approximately 43.25 inches in diameter and 29 inches tall. It's pictured next to a Herman Miller rosewood and white Eames lounge chair...
