About the Item
A striking Mid-Century Modern Italian dining table featuring a rare blue marble top, reminiscent of the elegant designs of Ignazio Gardella. This exquisite slab of marble showcases captivating hues of blue, rust, and light gray, adding depth and character to its organic beauty.
The top is crafted in a softened octagonal shape—primarily rectangular in form—with a sleek knife-edge bevel for a refined silhouette. Supported by a black steel trestle base with brass-capped feet, this table seamlessly blends sculptural presence with timeless Italian craftsmanship.
Ignazio Gardella is an Italian architect, engineer and designer who actively participated in the creation of the modern movement in Italy. The young Gardella grew up in a family of architects, graduating in civil engineering in 1930 from the Politecnico di Milano. He has been one of the founders of Azucena in 1947 along with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua. This was the first company in Italy to produce quality design. Gardella himself designed some decorative furniture items, combining modernist aesthetics and formal elegance that also fully reflected his architectural style.
