About the Item

This unique dining table, crafted by an unknown architect from Turin in the 1940s, exemplifies the Turin school of design with striking similarities to the works of Carlo Mollino, Paolo Buffa, and Gio Ponti. This masterpiece features an unusually shaped base with hard, straight lines, supported by a striking metal structure of handmade, green-finished leaves that hold up a glass top with an organic wooden rim. Constructed from solid walnut and walnut veneer, the table's mix of materials and colors creates a visually stunning effect, making it beautiful from every angle. Its impressive size comfortably accommodates up to eight chairs. Despite the mystery surrounding its designer or maker, the quality of this piece is unmistakable. The table is in fantastic condition, with the green metal leaf structure repainted to restore its original color, bringing the table back to its authentic state. Both the base and the walnut rim are in excellent condition, while the glass top exhibits only minor signs of use. This table is not only a functional piece of furniture but also a work of art, representing a rare and special opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of Italian design to acquire something truly exceptional. The Turin School refers to a distinctive movement in Italian design, particularly flourishing in the mid-20th century. Known for its innovative and avant-garde approach, this school produced designers who blended functionality with bold, artistic expression. Influential figures such as Carlo Mollino, is associated with this movement, recognized for his unique use of materials, intricate craftsmanship, and striking forms. The Turin School's legacy is evident in its timeless and highly collectible pieces, which continue to inspire contemporary design.
