This stunning clover-shaped table by José Zanine Caldas illustrates his unique design perspective using existing wood to inform the design of the table without being beholden to it's form. The resulting table is a marvel to behold, yet it retains it's functional qualities.
Jose Zanine Caldas, known simply as Zanine, was one of Brazil's foremost architects and furniture designers up until his death in 2001. A retrospective exhibition of his works was held adjacent to the Louvre at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1989. Zanine was one of the first truly ecologically conscious artists; he worked exclusively with reclaimed timber for the construction of his homes and the custom furniture that would make up the interiors of his commissions.
