19th Century Renaissance Revival Carved Solid Oak Dining Table

About the Item

19th century Renaissance Revival carved oak dining table. Made of solid oak, heavily carved with scrolling acanthus leaves on either side of central medallion. Robust turned legs with gem and bun feet and central H-stretcher. This table has the capability to extend to 155" long. Additional leaves would need to be fabricated if interested. It also has two sets of legs that drop down from underneath the table for extra support for a very long dining table. Completely Restored. Closed measurements are 67"long x 51 1/4"deep x 31"high. It could extend to a total length of 155" long, obviously it could be smaller as well but the stretchers will allow an extension that long. Other dimensions which might be useful in consideration: Floor to bottom of central apron 24.5" high From edge of table top extended to edge of central carved base: 45" on either side. When fully extended - the total additional leaf capability is 88.25" long Existing ends are 33.5" wide, when joined without leaves - 67" long The top overhang over the central base is 2.25" on either side of the table.

An outstanding French Oak Double Pedestal Dining Table. A double pedestal oak extension dining table by Albert Guenot, c. 1940. Substantial, sculptural pedestal legs Extension leaves pull out from either end of table by pulling edge down and pulling leaves out to extend. Albert-Lucien Guenot (1894-1993) Guenot was a French decorator and furniture designer, born in Arcueil-Cachan, and schooled at the Ecole Boulle in Paris. Guenot immersed himself in “The Moderne Style” by working as a designer in the studio of Maurice Dufrene, in sculpted wood with Laurent Malcles, in sculpture with Paul Follot, in ironwork for Edgar Brandt, and briefly for architect Rene Crevel. From 1923 the balance of his career was at the Pomone design studio of Au Bon Marche department store in Paris. He became the chef d’atelier under director, Paul Follot.
