About the Item

Richard Woods’ strikingly colourful woodgrain block prints are applied to Sebastian Wrong’s utilitarian furniture – reminiscent of mid-century designs – in this seminal collaboration between artist and designer. RICHARD WOODS BRITISH ARTIST BORN 1966 A painter, designer and sculptor, Richard Woods is a graduate of The Slade School of Fine Art. His well-documented work crosses boundaries between art, architecture and design and is most often made up of exaggerated, garish representations of traditional British architectural and interior motifs, such as wooden flooring, chintz wallpapers, crazy paving or red bricks. These “logos of reality” are created using traditional woodblock techniques and then applied as a second skin covering interior floors and walls. His work has been applied to a courtyard in the Henry Moore Project at the Venice Biennale 2004, to a residential building in upstate New York 2006, and a store interior for Comme des Garcons in Osaka in 2003. In these instances, Woods’ art expresses an extreme version of Englishness by taking over a space and saturating it with iconography. Woods has also recently produced work for the London Underground, Paul Smith, collaborated on architectural projects in Sicily and Tokyo and is currently working on a host of projects including further architectural commissions in New York, London and Seoul. SEBASTIAN WRONG BRITISH DESIGNER BORN 1971 Design Director of Established & Sons and an award-winning product designer, London-born Sebastian Wrong has more than 18 years of experience in manufacturing. Wrong originally studied sculpture at Norwich School of Art, before founding his first production company in 2001. Spanning both the creative and production side of the design business, he has accumulated an impressive array of technical skills. As a designer, he has created commercially and critically successful products for some of the world’s leading brands, and his portfolio of work spans furniture, lighting, accessories and gallery projects. As a manufacturer, he has collaborated with many of the preeminent names in contemporary design.

G-Table CU + K with Kauri Wood Table Top and Copper-Cladded Steel Base by Zieta
By Zieta, Oskar Zieta
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
Zieta uses parametric design software to generate G-Table form. Modifying a few variables lets us create a miniature model as well as a huge pavilion. Delicate structure of table legs may become stocky and dominating. All those factors cause G-Table to be not only an effect of the process, but also a process itself. G-Table’s base consists of parabolic forms. Made with FiDU technology, it reminds of vines or tree roots. Nature symbolizes a constant changeability and harmony that comes out of it. Diverse structure of G-Table refers to both natural forms and processes. Bionic: Zieta has created a new way of generating bionic objects. With parametric and generative design we are able to create endless generations of new products and constructions. As a result, we are able to create smooth, elegant and gentle forms which at the same time remain stabile, durable and functional. We use generated forms as table constructions supporting custom table tops. Customization: Zieta uses computer-controlled parametric program to generate constructions and art forms. By modifying five features we are able to generate tailored parametric arches, that are not limited in scale. They can create basis for table tops as well as huge pavilions. Zieta plays with scales and sizes in every dimension. Design, color, finish, and size are customizable. Please see images of table top, table base, and finish/ material options in the additional images. Customization pricing on inquiry. FIDU: Thanks to the common factor which is the FiDU technology, the world of design, art and technology are combined. The free inner pressure deformation gives every object a special and unique form of revealing the true face of the metal. This table consists of Kauri wood table...
