18th Century Dry Scraped Swedish Slagbord Table

About the Item

An antique Swedish Gustavian period slagbord table showcasing a timeless and practical design. Featuring two drop leaves, the table's top has been scrubbed to reveal its natural honey-hued wood finish, exuding warmth and character. The body retains its original creamy white and blue-gray paint, beautifully dry-scraped to a worn patina that tells a story of years of use. Discreet, narrow drawers are seamlessly integrated into each end of the apron, maintaining the table's understated elegance, as they are knob-free and blend smoothly into the design. The straightforward construction is supported by simple squared legs and feet, reflecting the Gustavian aesthetic of restrained beauty and functionality.
