18TH Century, Italian Walnut Extendable Table

About the Item

18TH Century, Italian Walnut Extendable Table Measures: cm W 144 x D 71 x H 87.5. Open: cm W 267 x H 86.5 x D 71 This solid walnut table was made in the Tuscan area, Italy, in the early 18th century. Its peculiarity is due to the possibility of being able to open it to have a table with a much larger support surface. In fact, the extendable table is equipped with two extensions. The rectangular top rests on a recessed underfloor band, decorated with fine molded frames. On the four corners they move the volumes of the quadrangular elements from which the column-shaped legs originate, with a tapered stem at both ends and ending on rings. The columns rest on quadrangular bases supported by ball feet. The four legs are joined together by molded crossbeams. This table can be used in different ways: as a table in the kitchen and working island or in a dining room, but also in a tavern. It can be designed as a support surface in any room, even leaning against a wall as a console. The table top, especially when closed, is more than modern tables: therefore we recommend to equip it with suitable seats. Its simple line, which retains the charm of antique furniture, makes it particularly suitable both in rustic contexts and in modern environments.
