This is an antique gate leg table. An English, oak oval extending provincial table, dating to the William III period, circa 1700. Delightfully presented table, as useful today as it was over 300 years ago Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select oak stocks present fine grain interest Rich caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish Of narrow proportion when closed, ideal for occasional use Folds outwards into an oval form, the broad drop leaves of generous size Eye-catching bobbin turned supports to each legs Raised upon six, stout block feet, the gate-leg pair rotating to support the leaves This is a fascinating antique gate-leg table, with delightful oak figuring and of useful size. Wonderfully provincial in taste and craftsmanship, with an ideal look for a country house kitchen or diner. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
