Dutch Walnut Drop-leaf / Gate-leg Side Table, 18th Century
About the Item
Drop-leaf table hand-made in the Netherlands in the mid 1700s using walnut and pegged construction. The gate-leg opens to an almost round shape measuring 111cm x 113cm (43.7 x 44.5 inches). Both leaves are made of a single board cut in a semicircle and open by resting on the swing legs. The legs are hand-turned and sit on their original bun feet. The table has a single inset drawer with beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints. The table is finished on all sides and shows beautiful lines and proportions.
The table has a warm and deep chocolate color and will be a great addition to any room. Drop-leaf tables are extremely versatile because they can be functional both when closed as well as opened. This particular table sits at 31 inches tall, making it a great piece if you are looking for a worktable but do not have a lot of space.
