Made in Provence, circa 1830. 30" High 53" Wide 45" Length with no leaves 121" Fully extended 19" Each leaf An exquisite example of French Provincial craftsmanship, this early 19th century extending dining table was made in Provence, France, circa 1830. Executed in the Directoire style, the piece showcases the restrained elegance and geometric clarity characteristic of the period. The table is constructed from richly figured Circassian Walnut, prized for its depth of tone and dramatic grain. Designed for both form and function, the table rests on six tapered, turned legs, each terminating in finely cast brass casters for mobility and grace. The original structure measures 45 inches in length and extends to a substantial 121 inches with the inclusion of four matching 19-inch leaves. This versatile design comfortably accommodates ten to twelve guests, making it ideal for both intimate settings and grand occasions! The surface retains a beautiful patina that reflects its age while remaining beautifully preserved, and the extension mechanism has been sensitively updated to ensure smooth operation. A timeless and sophisticated piece that would anchor any traditional or transitional interior.
