About the Item

A particularly fine quality mahogany pembroke table. The three part top cut from a single piece of solid Cuban mahogany and beautifully made so that the figuring flows naturally from the leaves and across the bed of the table and the grain is perfectly matched. Lovely exaggerated carved and moulded border. The pair of concealed oak lined drawers open smoothly and are so finely made and fitted that they shussshh the air out as they close. The substantial ring turned column set on a quadrapite platform base, again in Cuban mahogany, with elegant swept feet terminating in original brass casters. A lovely table in excellent original condition and from a private local estate where it has been for many years. Fantastic colour, the mahogany bright with an iridescence known as chatoyance and retaining its original finish. No worm, breaks or damage and only small marks, bruises and superficial wear consistent with age and very caring use. A heavy and steady pembroke table of the finest quality - elegant with well balanced proportions. Both leaves open smoothly and rest firm and flat on original mahogany hinged lopers. In excellent original condition - strongly recommended. Dimensions are: 39 inches wide, 21.5 inches deep with the leaves closed and 28 inches high. 41.25 inches deep when leaves open. For metric please multiply by 2.5
