Rare Antique English Geo. III Regency Inlaid Satinwood Drop-Leaf Pembroke Table

About the Item

A true rarity, a marvelous Antique English Regency period Geo. III Rosewood inlaid Satinwood Drop-Leaf Pembroke Table with what appears to be cedar lined drawer; original chased ormolu brass round knobs front of drawer and faux backside. In the style of Gillows, Pembroke Tables made in satinwood are extremely rare and highly desirable. The top appears to have a wide outer crossbanding of rosewood with an inner narrow band of Purpleheart. The legs and drawer perimeters are inlaid with a black line of ebony. The square, tapered legs retain their original brass casters. There is evidence of some inlaid edging that has been lost over the years and later replaced professionally and is mentioned purely for accuracy. Otherwise, this table is in superb, age-appropriate condition. The drawer lining appear to be cedar and may have been done due to there being a smoking enthusiast or for keeping fabric. This table would make a wonderful small luncheon table for two or a small writing table in front of a chair or sofa and makes a perfect side table against a handsome chair or settee.
