About the Item

Purchased by our owner on a buying trip in France 20 years ago, this beautiful table would make a lovely addition to any home. This is a vintage wooden side or writing table in a classic French Provincial style. The table is made of solid wood, likely cherry or walnut, with a warm, medium-brown finish that highlights the natural grain. The tabletop has softly rounded edges and a subtly beveled profile, giving it a refined appearance. There is clear visible changes in the finish on the top of this piece due to use throughout its history. The apron features a scalloped, serpentine edge—a hallmark of French country or Louis XV-inspired design. It adds an elegant, feminine touch. The table stands on four cabriole legs, which curve outward at the knees and inward at the ankles. This leg style is associated with 18th-century French furniture and adds grace and lightness. A single drawer is built into the apron, adorned with a wrought iron or brass ring pull set on an ornate backplate. The drawer provides discreet storage and enhances the table’s utility. This piece would work beautifully as a writing table, entry console, or side table, bringing rustic sophistication to a room. Its style blends well with French country, shabby chic, or traditional interiors. The craftsmanship and design details point to a balance of function, elegance, and rustic charm.
