Architectural Cube Design Occasional Table Gerald McCabe

About the Item

California design. Gerald McCabe was a California based designer craftsman. He was known for starting McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. And at the same time, he was tinkering away and making furniture. He worked on many furniture commissions for interiors, business's and more. He created a line of furniture designs for Brown + Saltman, Glenn of California and his own called Eon. The Eon line was unlike his wood pieces. Eon designs were made with architectural steel lines and glass. Not many of these tables were made, or have survived. They were mainly commissioned pieces or one-offs. This table is a fine example of a piece from his Eon line. It has a nice architectural form of brushed steel with the original thick green edge glass top. It's in the original vintage condition showing minor wear with patina. The glass has barely visible scratches with one small chip on the corner underside. (The glass can be easily replaced.) Presents well for collections and interiors....
