A Sculptural Piece in the Spirit of Charles Dudouyt
We proudly present this remarkable guéridon (or accent table) in solid wood, whose powerful, rustic modernist design is clearly attributed to Charles Dudouyt and his production for La Gentilhommière during the 1930s-1940s.
This piece perfectly embodies Dudouyt's signature style, which sought to reconcile traditional craftsmanship with a modern, raw aesthetic, often described as neo-rustic or pre-Brutalist.
Design Characteristics:
Barley-Twist Pedestal (Bois Tourné): The central element is the torsade column, or turned baluster base, a recognized hallmark of the designer found on his lamps and small tables. This dynamic, sculpted form gives the table its unique, highly sculptural character.
Elegant, Thick Top: The circular top showcases a beautiful wood grain, emphasizing the nobility of the material and the durable nature of the design.
