George II Carved Oak Tilt-Top Isle of Man Tripod Table

About the Item

A George II oak tilt-top table with knickered legs made on the Isle of Man. English, circa 1750. Attributed to this small isle by the distinctive carved leg decoration terminating in boots, similar to the island's flag. The additional carved straps run up the legs to a gun barrel stem. The round oak top rests on a tilt-top mechanism, circa 1770.
