Graceful Table with Pyrographic Decoration

About the Item

Rare English oval table of graceful Hepplewhite design having a gallery edged top with mottled surface, over four curved supports over smaller gallery edge platform inscribed "Xmas 1893" on four curved legs, with good rich honey color. The edges of the supports and legs decorated with punched pyrography (burned with hot chisel or poker) If it were not dated 1893, one would date this table about 100 years earlier based on construction and stylistic grounds and it may well date from the 18th century and decorated a century later.
