About the Item
This PAIR of Antique French Louis XVI Oval Marquetry Nightstands ~ End Tables is truly a fantastic find! Providing a larger surface than typical French nightstands yet with an oval form that presents absolutely no sharp corners anywhere, they are ideal for the bedside, flanking a sofa, next to your favorite chair, you name it! Finished all around, they're perfect for floating in the room. The tops are rich parquet with inlaid borders and overlook the intriguing case works which include a drawer, a cabinet with porcelain lining inside, two open display or book shelves on each side, and four turned legs in the classical style joined by a curved "H" style stretcher for stylish strength. Even the drawer and cabinet door facades display marquetry patterns with inlay framing for a unique effect. However, it was the bronze mounts that first caught our eye from across the room, with rosettes, bell flowers, an ancient Greek bordering with laurels and beaded trim. Finely cast knobs on the drawers and doors complete the look!
