About the Item
Pair of vintage parquet oak side tables with elegant X shaped bases. The transitional side tables are a petite stature and weight. They are perfectly at home placed beside your sofa or armchair. The beauty of these tables lies in their mobility. Because of their size, you can easily move them about. Essentially you have the functionality of portable furniture with the timeless look and craftsmanship of an heirloom piece. The oak parquet veneer accentuates the solid wood table tops. The X-shaped bases are truly exquisite with graceful sabre legs spanned by a turned wood stretcher. Solid wood and iron, it doesn’t get much better in terms of materials.
A superb pair of side tables, these vintage parquet oak and iron-based pieces embody a striking dialogue between architectural geometry and warm natural material. Each table measures approximately 18¾ inches (48 cm) wide, 24 inches (61 cm) deep, and 15¾ inches (40 cm) high — compact in stature, yet powerful in presence.
The tops are crafted from parquet oak veneer over solid wood, where the artful geometry of the parquet pattern catches and plays with light, infusing subtle pulse into what could otherwise be a purely structural form. Beneath, the iron X-bases, gracefully splayed in sabre legs, provide both stability and visual lift. The turned-wood stretcher spanning between the legs introduces a touch of classical detail, softening the harder industrial edge of the metal and grounding the design in craftsmanship.
Refinished with care, these tables carry the quiet symbols of age: a few delicate surface marks, a modest scratch, and one small spot—each one not detracting but rather attesting to history and use. The finish is smooth and warm, the parquet glossy without being glassy, the iron toned with character and measure.
Light enough to be repositioned easily, their petite footprint and handsome scale make them perfect companions beside sofas, armchairs, or in alcoves where beauty must meet flexibility. They work equally well in modern interiors as vintage settings, in design havens favoring mixed materials — wood, metal, texture — and spaces where proportion and detail matter.
Collectors and interiors lovers who esteem heirloom furniture, visible materiality, and designs that bridge industrial strength with domestic warmth will find these tables particularly compelling. To own this pair is to claim more than side tables: it is to bring home balance, wood-patterned artistry, and structure that speaks as much of style as of utility.

Svend Madsen for Karl Lindegaard Danish Teak End Tables Set
By Svend Åge Madsen, Karl Lindegaard
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Gorgeous, large Danish teak end tables produced by Svend Madsen for Karl Lindegarrd. These Mid-Century Modern lamp tables are finished on all sides, and feature elegant styling and expert Scandinavian craftsmanship. A single drawer on each table provides ample storage without compromising the overall modern aesthetic. The solid teak wood legs are a bit thicker than typically seen on Danish furniture. Theses gently contoured legs mimic the humanist feel of the rounded edges on the table tops. Subtly bowed, solid teak edge banding punctuates the far ends of the table tops. These tables are stamped with the Svend Madsen label and marked made in Denmark. Both of the table tops have been refinished. The more than half-a-century old teak wood maintains a warm orange tone that only comes with age.
As is the case for many Scandinavian designers from the mid-century period, little biographical information on Danish designer Svend Åge Madsen has survived. What is known has been gleaned from vintage dealers working with limited archival materials, like sales catalogues. Outside of Nordic countries, the designer’s name is often written "Svend Aage Madsen”. While some rare designs date from the late 1950s, the overwhelming majority of Madsen’s furniture was designed in the 1960s.
Madsen’s creations epitomize the Danish modern style: he favoured warm teak and rosewood, organic silhouettes, and minimal decorative details. More specific features of his work include “boomerang” legs; sloped, arching desk...

Vintage Heywood Wakefield Wheat Finish X Base Square Coffee Table
By Heywood-Wakefield Co.
Located in Chattanooga, TN
There's a rich, deep, aged honey patina on this wheat finish birch / maple. We achieved a a near perfect muted grain and color match to the top surface that we delicately restored. This sleek, study, understated and classic modern coffee table embraces mid-century minimalism design. The "X" base with intersecting spanners adds an appealing architectural elegance that remains timeless to this day. Sculpted, and assembled with no visible hardware.
This restored Heywood-Wakefield 392-G square coffee table is an elegant expression of mid-century minimalism, crafted in the signature wheat-maple finish that has made the brand so revered. It measures approximately 36 inches by 36 inches (91 × 91 cm) across the top, and stands about 15.75 inches (40 cm) high — a scale that delivers both generous surface area and low, relaxed visual impact.
The design is beautifully composed: a square tabletop with softened edges floats above an intersecting “X”-base, with crossed stretchers that add structural elegance and visual interest without heaviness. The wheat finish has a muted grain: blond tones, subtle warmth, and a light yet rich surface that reflects light softly while grounding surrounding furnishings. The craftsmanship is clean: wood joints are refined, hardware is concealed, allowing the form and wood grain to speak.
Restoration has been carried out with great attention to authenticity. The tabletop has been professionally refinished to match original specifications: color, finish sheen, and grain pattern restored. Minor imperfections remain — tiny surface marks and perhaps slight variances on the X-base spanners — but these serve as testament to its vintage provenance rather than detractions. The legs and base are solid and stable; the table presents as both handsome and durable.
Because of its proportions and design, this piece works beautifully in a range of interiors. It can anchor a sprawling seating area in a living room, serve as the central gathering point in a lounge, or provide surface and sculptural presence in modern or Scandinavian-light-wood interiors. Its square silhouette allows symmetry in layout; its wheat finish harmonizes with wood tones, brass or matte metal accents, soft upholstery, and even minimalist or muted color palettes.
We're certain you won't find a more sublime vintage rendition of this coffee table anywhere. Stamped by the maker with illegible date.
Excellent restored vintage condition. Top has been professionally refinished by our in-house cabinet shop.Only very minor age appropriate imperfections remain on the legs and spanners.
