About the Item
Imposing French Louis XIII style dining table or harvest table featuring large spiral twists or barley twist legs. Crafted from oak the top nearly 3" inch thick planks with breadboard ends and peg joinery. The long trestle base has two storage drawers with iron pulls. The thick, chunky legs are conjoined by barley twist stretchers. The long center stretcher has a support in the middle. The table has a classic French farmhouse profile and massive scale with euro skinny dimensions. The oak has a handsome rich, dark finish that showcases the woodgrains.

Substantial 19th century country French provincial farmhouse dining table hand-crafted from solid oak. The table features a monumental 2 inch thick top with breadboard ends. The top is supported by a trestle base having thick, chunky turned legs conjoined by H-shaped stretchers and ending with bun feet. Constructed with mostly wood peg joinery each end has a 10" inch overhang for diners and ample leg room measuring 23.5 inches from the floor to the apron. The rare large size is made in a monastery or refectory style. Very heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The table top showcases the distinctive woodgrains and has a desirable aged patina on the oak with age cracks and gaps to commensurate its age and use.
