About the Item

A Charming And Unusual 19th Century Rustic Pine Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, To Seat 8, Having Plank Top Of Attractive Warm Colour And Surface With Cleated Ends, Raised On Four Square Chamfered Legs United By Inset Stretchers With Elegant Silhouette Shaped Cross Supports. Farmhouse kitchen dining tables in all shapes, sizes and variations are always one of the most popular items we have available for sale. This one both charming and practical dining table due to the fact it being such a great little size, comfortably seating 8 people with the attractive stretchers designed in such a fashion that they dont get in the way of persons or chairs. Unusually constructed from Pine which gives it a slightly different, softer and lighter feel to most that we see it still retains a decent colour to the top, which is well used but still in perfectly presentable condition and also due to cleated ends remains in a good usable condition. These cleated ends are always a sign of quality and their purpose is to help ensure that there is not to much movement between the planks from which the top is constructed. They have certainly served their purpose on this occasion. The base is attractive, no structural defects to speak of, just the usual and expected scuffs, scrapes, digs, dents etc and that in combination with the cross stretchers results in the table being particularly robust and solid. It is also very much worth noting that although there are low stretchers they are delibarately designed not to cause a nuisance and get in the way of chairs and people which is a really helpful feature. As with all items which we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home. Georgian Mahogany Dropleaf Dining Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
An Extremely Good Quality, Mid-18th Century, George II Period Solid Mahogany Oval Drop Leaf Dining Table, To Seat 8 People, Having Extremely Well Figured Two Flap Top Retaining Exceptional, Rich, Untouched Colour And Patina, Raised On Four Elegant Turned Legs Terminating With Original Pad Feet. Georgian drop leaf dining tables of this design are relatively common to find, however it is rare to find one of this size and in this condition, which retains such a fabulous colour and patina. It is also quite nice to find an oval one, which is not far off being circular when extended. This is a superb example of its type, constructed from what would have been the absolute best solid mahogany available in the mid 18th century and because of that the table is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. It is particularly solid even with the moving legs fully extended and this allows for great functionality. Of course another tick on the desirability scale for this table is that it can be easily folded down and even pushed against a wall, or into a corner when not in full use, meaning one does not require such a large dining room as may otherwise have been required. The table also retains a fabulous untouched colour and patina and has very clearly not ever been stripped and repolished or anything like that. Seating 8, this table is one of one of the most desirable antique dining table forms available and would work with a whole variety of different dining chairs...

Regency English Mahogany Antique Extending Dining Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A fine quality late regency period mahogany extending dining table retaining exceptional colour and patina to well figured top with two original removable leaves raised on elegant turned and fluted legs with superbly carved corner patrae & original brass castors (With a whole plethora of options available in terms of antique dining tables it can be an absolute mine field trying to decide which suits each individual purpose. This particular example is worth considering for a variety of reasons, not least the fantastical overall quality and excellent choice of timber selected. It also retains a good colour and patina. The extending design is of the full out type which is generally seen in the earlier Georgian and Regency versions, the wind out design more commonly seen is generally regarded as a Victorian and later feature. Another advantage of this design is that there is just the 4 corner legs which allow maximum flexibility in terms of chair and human leg...

19th Century Amboyna Occasional Table
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A delightful 19th century occasional lamp, or wine table, with well figured amboyna circular top and ormolu moulding raised on three elegant ebonized and inlaid turned supports, terminating with triform plateau and elegant sabre feet. Although victorian in date this table draws on a variety of different stylistic features, from a range of different periods. The use of beautiful amboyna veneers, set against ebonised mouldings is very much a 19th century feature however, the contrast created providing both a boldness and elegance all in one. This little occasional table is constructed from excellent timbers and when taking into account the overall quality of construction as well it is clear that it was produced in one of the top cabinet makers workshops of the time. Surprisingly sturdy for such a small article, which is due to the intelligent triple support design, this is a most practical table indeed, perfect for a wide variety of spots around the home, where one can use it to house a lamp, some photo frames or even a nice glass of wine. It is a great size and should fit elegantly into just about spot desired. Overall the condition is good and as with all items which we offer for sale it has received a natural wax polish by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture...
