A French round bouillotte game table with brass gallery, marble top, two drawers and two leather pull outs from the early 19th century. This delicate bouillotte French table circa 1820 features a rounded marble top with brass gallery on a simple apron adorned with two small drawers and two leather pull outs. The table is raised on four fluted tapering legs, resting on brass spade feet. In a manner typical of the Restauration period marked by the reigns of Louis XVIII and Charles X, this game table demonstrates a desire for more comfortable interiors in connection with the bourgeois way of life. Designers sought the association between ancient forms and more relaxed lines. Lightness and delicacy are also characteristic of these French tables which multiplied to create new functions.
