Lava Stone and Blackened Iron Side Table, Attributed to Elchinger, France, 1960s

About the Item

Square side table with an enameled lava stone top, France, 1960s. The surface features bold, abstract patterns in vibrant orange, turquoise, and green hues, fused directly into the volcanic stone through high-temperature glazing. The top rests on a minimalist blackened iron base with slender cylindrical legs. The underside bears a partially legible signature, possibly “Elchinger,” referring to the renowned French ceramicist family known for their mid-century modern creations. This piece is a fine example of the post-war fusion of art and design, combining raw materials with expressive craftsmanship. Perfect as a side table or sculptural accent.
